I bet you will agree with me when I say, one of every mom’s guilty treats is shopping for clothes and/or accessories for their babies!
I myself is guilty of this. I mean, how can you not love shopping for clothes and accessories for your dear babies when they’re all cute and when you see the clothes on your baby, they get cuter!
Okay, that’s just me and my lame excuse just so my husband will not question my guilty pleasures.
Anyway, let me tell you a short story.
I was with my mommy day out one day when I saw my friend who was seated right next to me scanning through an Instagram page. I was so curious, I asked her about it and she was so delighted and thrilled to share about her new discovery – guess what? An online store that caters to baby clothes and accessories! The account is named Happyhannas.
Of course, I got so thrilled myself I felt I had to check the page and see for myself what they offer. Well, as expected, I get hooked and ended up buying something for my baby. No, it wasn’t an impulse buy – or so I thought. Forgive me but it’s a mommy thing, right?
Kidding aside, I find the store impressive! It offers a variety of babies and kids clothing, shoes, accessories, and even beddings, which I so love, by the way. Not just that, they also have different family pajama set, which of course, I also love. Later on, I will be sharing with you their line and I will share what my impressions are with their items.
Before we go into that, I think it’s just right that I share with you first what Happyhannas is.
What is Happyhannas?
Happyhannas actually pertains to Hanna Andersson, a corporation that specializes in children’s apparel (from 0 to 14 years old), and some for moms and dads too. But apart from clothing, they also have other products like beddings, as well as other kids accessories like headpieces, hats, even toys, and books!
According to the Hanna Andersson website, “Hanna is legendary for softness and durability and crafted with the very best organic cotton. We’re inspired by big imaginations, and we believe in letting kids be free to play and discover. Hanna helps family moments become lasting memories, created with care and made to last for generations.”
The company has Swedish roots. Its owners, Gun and Tom Dehart, an American guy and a Swedish lady, put up the company in 1983. It started in their garage at their home in Portland, Oregon right after they gave birth to their firstborn. It’s actually nice knowing that the brand’s logo is owner Tom’s own handwriting, which he did when they came up with their very first catalog.
Happyhannas or Hanna Andersson is based in the United States, Portland, and Oregon. In the US, Hanna Andersson operates via mail-order, online, and retail stores in the United States.
Hanna Andersson is, by the way, a Swedish name.
What makes Hanna Andersson unique?
I actually have so much to say and so much love about Happyhanas, which by the way is an Instagram handle of Hanna Andersson.
Anyway, Happyhannas or Hanna Andersson takes pride in the quality of their products. In fact, they boast the use of 100% organic cotton in all their items. As they say, they love giving children high-quality products because “it matters”.
The brand understands how delicate and sensitive kids’ skin is that is why they offer nothing but the best product made from the best, high-quality material.
The brand also boasts that while they care for farmers who are responsible for growing cotton, they also care for the planet with non-toxic ecosystems. The brands say that they’ve grown their cotton trees without using chemical pesticides or fertilizers, also they do not use genetically modified organisms.
The company is committed to organics with “seven million supersoft-and-cozy pieces strong” and in fact, still growing every minute.
I, personally was fascinated knowing that the brand does care for the earth. I mean, there are a lot of clothing brands out there, but I have to say, there are only a few who really takes into consideration the things that really matter.
You know, it pays to take care of our Mother Earth the way we take care of our kids. After all, it’s where we live, and without it, where else can we go, right?
Here’s more, the brand is certified STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®. According to their website, it means “they’re tested down to the very last strand of thread for over 100 harmful substances using strict European certification standards.”
With all that’s been said, I bet you will agree with me if I say, this brand does really care for our kids, right? It’s pretty obvious with how they ensure they give nothing but products that will help make our babies even more beautiful inside and out. Moving on…
Another nice thing about this brand is that they are generous with what they have. They share their blessings! Well, that’s what you call giving back.
Since they launched in 1983, the company has donated millions of dollars, as well as pieces of clothing for the benefit of kids in need. They have given back by sharing their blessings to a number of non-profit organizations, emergency relief operations, and many other small local groups that cater to helping children. The company has also reached out and supported employee-selected non-profit organizations. They also run Hanna-Me-Downs store events wherein they collect clothing and give them out to kids in need from all over the country.
To be honest, I really have so much respect to companies who gout of their way and make giving back to communities or children a priority. I mean, that only means they really are serious with what they do, and they do have generous hearts.
I think the core and values of this brand have something to do with the owners being parents themselves. I mean, do you agree with that? They know how to care for other people because they themselves would never wish their children to be in the situation of these kids they are helping out.
When I actually learned about how Happyhannas are doing their share in helping out kids, in particular, I thought, the next time I’d buy stuff from stores, I better check out if they too are doing their share in the community. I mean, really. It’s nice to love a brand, and buy stuff from a brand that has a heart for other people especially those in need – what more if the ones in need that they are catering too are children, right?
What is the future of Happyhannas?
Well, from what I’ve seen on their website, they are now focusing on providing both kids and parents comfortable pajamas. The company believes that sleep is a must especially with kids because it helps them “thrive and grow”. As the company puts it, they’re “dreaming forward to healthy, happy kids” with every set of pajamas they make.
When I read this, I initially thought, really? Pajamas? That’s too basic! But when I thought about it – precisely, it’s basic yet very significant. Soft, comfy pajamas make a good night’s sleep, and a night of good sleep for kids means healthier and stronger kids. So, yeah, why not? It’s actually – in one way or another – brilliant idea!
What to love about Hanna Andersson?
Okay, you probably have guessed by now what would be on this list, but just to make a point, here are a few things that I and other Happyhannas moms and kids out there love about this brand:
- They use 100% pure organic cotton.
I have already discussed this early on, but again, just to make a point, all of Hanna Andersson apparel are made from 100% pure organic cotton. When you put on Happyhannas clothes to your kid, you are sure your kid is protected and shielded from harm because the fabric that touches his or her skin is not made from fabrics that use or have been exposed to harmful chemicals.
For me, it’s a super plus that it’s made from organic cotton because I am 100% assured that my baby’s skin is safe from possible irritations or allergies. This kind of fabric is actually highly recommended to kids with skin problems and allergies. So, yeah, great job to Hanna Andersson for creating a clothing line that does care.
- They are certified STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®.
As I mentioned earlier, OEKO-TEX® is responsible in making sure that the fabric used in Hanna Andersson products are tested and have passed certain standards. In this case, the fabric is tested down to the very last strand of thread, making sure that no harmful substances come with it based on strict European certification standards.
I am definitely hands down to this. It basically is a proof that they really mean what they say. When they say they care, they really do care.
- They have a fair price.
In my opinion, I have to say that Happyhannas products’ price range are actually fair given the kind of materials they use in their products. Let’s admit it, products made from 100% pure organic cotton can be really pricey.
Nonetheless, for me, it’s paying the security knowing that your kid is safe from harmful chemicals used in other products.
- They care for the planet.
Using organic materials means they care enough for the planet. I think they know how crucial things are these days when it comes to environmental preservation and conservation. Well, I bet they knew it from the start because they’ve been around since 1983 – so that means, as early as then, they already know that they should ensure their product will not be harmful not only to children but to the planet as well.
By the way, as also mentioned earlier, they do not use pesticides or any harmful materials in growing their cotton trees. Thus, making it safe for the environment as well.
- They care for farmers.
Since they use cotton for their products, that means, they source the cotton from farmers, right? Well, they too have mentioned that in their website that they do care for farmers. The brand is not only earning for themselves but sharing the same thing to the farmers that grow cotton trees. Yes, just in case you do not know yet, cotton is from cotton trees.
You probably are thinking now, alright, so that is why cotton-based clothing or fabrics are kind of pricey, all the more the organic ones.
Another great job for Happyhannas for giving work and income to farmers – particularly cotton growers.
- They give back to kids in need.
Well, it’s not surprising why they especially cater in giving back to kids in need – after all, they are a kids apparel brand. Happyhannas work with various non-profits both from local and national levels to ensure they get to help kids one at a time.
I was super touched with this, seriously. I am a mom too, thus, my soft heart for kids. I feel like saying thank you to the Hanna Andersson for thinking about the kids in need. They deserve all the love and attention from people like you. And yeah, thank you for helping out. It sure means a lot to the kids. I can only imagine the joys on their faces, they are indeed Happy Hannas.
- They open an avenue for their customers to help as well through Hanna-Me-Downs event.
There are only a few brands that do this – I think. I find it nice knowing that they give an avenue for their valued customers to share their blessings too by donating through the Hanna-Me-Downs events they do at their stores.
I super love the idea of instilling the value of giving not just within your company, but even extending it to your customers. I had the chance to donate through this, and I swear, it was a happy moment for me. At least, now I know the clothes my child used to wear will not be put to waste because someone else, a kid too, will benefit from it.
Oh, needless to say, what makes it more encouraging for customers to participate – at least during the time I donated – was the 15% off for in-store purchases that Hanna Andersson gave for every donation made. Now, that’s cool, right? You give and yet you also take.
- The brand was created by husband and wife tandem.
Isn’t it cute knowing that a kids’ clothing line is a brainchild of a husband and wife? I mean, when you go to the business world, how many businesses out there came from a husband and wife tandem? I guess only a few, right?
What I love about this fact is that you know exactly where the heart of this brand is coming from. It came from a very humble beginning. The brand is like blood, sweat, and tears of two people who love each other and really worked hard to make this one little project this big.
- They understand how essential sleep is.
I too initially thought why do they make pajamas something to look forward to? I mean, that very basic. But, they totally packaged it right – in fact, in a very convincing and well, factual way. It’s actually like them reminding us that hey, sleep is important especially for the growth and development of a child – in the same way, that sleep is essential to us parents too.
Oh, yeah, I love the fact that they offer family pajama outfits! Twinning is a thing. I do not know about you, but I really find it cute going to bed with the whole family wearing the same thing.
