The former FLOTUS has left an impact on her fashion sense and style. Over the years, she pushed the “politically correct” fashion envelope, and America loved it. Some famous Michelle Obama dresses are featured below.
During the first presidential campaign for Obama, people were curious to know what Michelle’s stipend was for her wardrobe. Instead of responding in dollars, she proudly announced, “J. Crew”. In comparison to Sarah Palin’s budget, which was around $150,000, Michelle’s brand was probably not on Sarah’s list of chosen brands. That one statement would determine how the next eight years would unfold in terms of the First Lady’s ever-changing wardrobe.

A Humble Past
Years before the political limelight, Michelle and Barack were married in 1992 in Chicago, Illinois. Even then, Michelle chose a tasteful, demure gown without over-embellishment. Forgoing a necklace, the only accessories she’d worn were a pair of earrings.

Mrs. Obama’s “J. Crew” comment started a phenomenon that exceeded the typical look and label of her outfits.

This blog was the first dedicated to a political figure. What came out of it all? A New York University professor conducted a study on fashion brands. The effect Michelle had on all types of brands was pretty groundbreaking!
The Breathtaking Inauguration
Fashion was one of the most important roles in defining Obama’s presidential administration. Michelle Obama saw her fashion choices as a way to create her own identity and to support her own ideals. On January 20, 2009, she decided to wear a one-shouldered white gown at the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball in Washington.

Most first ladies of the past only trusted a small number of designers to help them with their look. For example, Oscar de la Renta often worked closely with Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush. However, Mrs. Obama didn’t seem to have a favorite.
This administration was the first of its kind for obvious reasons. With social media unfolding constantly, the public is privy to everything these days.

Everyone critiques what she wears, when she wears it, and why she’s worn it. What she chooses says something to the type of person she is.
A Lasting Impression
People wanted to know what Michelle was about. How did she look? Additionally, what was she wearing? Furthermore, she was able to tie fashion and substance together with one affecting the other equally. Mrs. Obama enjoyed fashion so much, yet it did not subtract from her personality. Women were now able to stop being so focused on trying to find the perfect ensemble.

This black dress with big red poppies is now on display at the National Museum of African-American History and Culture. Mrs. Obama viewed fashion seriously as a career choice for those interested. As a result, she hosted a Fashion Education workshop at the White House. She invited students to observe as Jason Wu donated his first inaugural gown to the Smithsonian Museum. Mrs. O even invited designers to attend state dinners.
The dress chosen above was not by accident. At the India State Dinner, Mrs. Obama chose to wear a dress designed by the Indian-American designer, Mr. Naeem Kahn.

She mixed up her wardrobe all the time. Famous women, such as the Duchess of Cambridge, emulated her. However, nobody else was able to pull it off to the extent of Mrs. Obama.
