5 Best Things To Do At Home To Make Money

Work From Home Jobs

Are you looking for things to do at home to make money? Guess what? There are plenty of them! All you have to do is find out what best suits your personality and interests.

I am a fulltime mom, too. It’s been a while now since I left my job for good.

I say for good because a few months before that, I was working from home – an agreement me and my former employer agreed upon. I have been with my previous job for almost a decade, and I must say, it wasn’t easy for me to leave it permanently.

But as what people say, once you become a mom, priorities change. And yeah, you totally become a different person. So, different that you sometimes wonder if it is still you.

I actually thought of that when I decided to quit. I thought it wasn’t me at all, because the real me, I would look for ways. I would go find someone fitted to take care of my child while I continue working at the office.

Oh yes, I was definitely a career woman. Of course, not until this little tiny human came into our lives. Certainly, our lives were never the same again.

But you know, even though it has only been a while, I have to say there is no hint of regrets in my heart and in my mind. Thanks to technological advancement, I got to find things to do at home to make money.

Don’t get me wrong. I am super blessed to have a husband who can provide for our family’s needs. We are not rich, but we have enough. Sometimes, even more than enough. But why did I still things to do at home to make money? Well, it’s for my personal sanity.

The transition from being a focused career woman for more than a decade (my previous job plus my other previous jobs) to being a fulltime mom was drastic for me. I had tears for a while because I was not used to being at home and just being with someone who is little. I have no one to talk to because all the family members and friends that I can think of are busy with their lives too.

That said, I talked about it with my husband, and it was actually him who encouraged me to find things to do at home to make money so I won’t lose myself in the process, and also to keep me sane  — since he knows how I love working and how it makes me feel really accomplished.

Of course, he also kept me grounded by reminding me that while it’s okay for me to work from home, I should not forget the very reason why I am home – our baby. While working at home is okay, our top priority is our baby’s wellness.

Honestly, I never thought working from home and motherhood can go along with one another. I find it really genius how there are so many works from home jobs out there for moms like me.

A few months since I decided to find things to do at home to make money, and landed in a couple of jobs (well, yes, I think I have tried most of the popular online jobs out there – it was really my way of finding what I wanted and what job will I stick to), here I am writing this with a hope in my heart that I will be able to share with you, a fellow mom (or even if you are not a mom, you can also try the jobs I am sharing in a bit) some of the best things to do at home to make money. Money not just for you, but either to help your family pay the bills or to keep aside for your baby’s future needs.

Just before I start listing down the things to do at home to make money for moms like you and me, having thought about my husband’s reminders, I made sure that these ways of making money at home are flexible in schedule. Meaning, it will give you the freedom when to do the job.

So, with that said, let us begin.

THINGS TO DO AT HOME THAT MAKES MONEY

  1. Make money from an extra room in your house.

Do you have an extra room in your house? How about an extra property that is not being used to its full potential? Well, guess what? Airbnb is in!

If you are not familiar with Airbnb, it’s a website and an app wherein you can list down a room or a property and let tourists or strangers rent them out for a certain period of time and make money for doing so.

Believe it or not, it one of the easiest things to do at home to make money! I mean, imagine, all you have do is decorate the space, make it look beautiful and enticing and homey, take photos of it (really good, high-quality photos per se), sign up on Airbnb, and then upload the photos and make the space available for anyone and everyone.

Come to think of it, you can either have spent s very few bucks to make the room or your property look nicer, or maybe you have not to splurge any amount of money at all, but in terms of returns, you will surely be surprised at how much money you can make.

Personally, I recommend this most especially to those whose houses or apartments are located nearby tourist spots and destinations. By just sitting down, and taking care of your baby, with your smartphone on hand, you can earn a really good amount of money.

Just a tip though, when listing your room or property on Airbnb or any other site like it, the best way to sell or have a lot of people rent your place apart from location and nearby attractions is your hospitality. Be thoughtful and nice, and you will surely have constant customers on board.

  1. Make money from installing cellphone apps.

Sounds pretty clever? Well, I must say it is! Who would have thought you can make money form installing apps, right?

But truth be told, there are companies that pay you to install apps or place ads on your mobile phone. Guess what? Without even doing anything, you can make to as much as $300 a year! It may be a small amount of money, but, hey, you are not doing anything, remember?

Basically, this works by after installing the app, it runs in the background and tracks down your spending and purchasing habits. It’s actually more applicable to those who don’t care about their spending habits at all.

But really, it depends on the app, because each app offers different things. For instance, the Ibotta app, which is one of my favorite apps. Using it will make you save big on almost all of the biggest brands particularly on grocery items. In fact, I was able to earn a little over $2,000 over the last year. Apart from earning from shopping or buying stuff, you also get bonuses from signing up and for referring friends. Don’t worry they are not a multi-level marketing type of thing. It’s just a one-time bonus.

  1. Make money from freelance writing.

If you love writing as I do, one of the best options is to get into freelance writing. Correct me if I am wrong, but it is probably one of the most popular things to do at home to make money.

Freelance writing is a very flexible job. Depending on your availability, you can either get into part-time or full-time freelance writing jobs. There are also some cases wherein you can do a project-based freelance writing stint.

I must say, freelance writing is also one of the very competitive jobs when it comes to the salary or rate. Some clients pay hundreds of dollars for a 3 to a 4-page article. For those who are into fulltime, depending on the client’s needs, your expertise and years of experience, you can earn as much as $2,000 to $5,000 a month! Sounds a really good deal, well, yes it is.

If writing is your thing, I highly recommend you jump into freelance writing. Before you even ask, I already know what you are thinking. Where to find freelance writing jobs? Well, there are several websites that offer freelance writing opportunities like Upwork, Freelancer.com, Indeed, HireMyMom.com, and a lot more. You can also search via Google for more options.

  1. Make money from answering paid surveys.

Yes, you read it right! You can make money by taking surveys online.

It was actually just recently when I found out about this. Immediately, I tried it out, and I was impressed. I mean, who in the world would have thought that you will get paid form answering surveys, right?

Let’s be honest, it’s not the most thrilling thing to do at home to make money, but it still is one way to make money. What is even nicer about it is, you do not need to have a degree or a very promising career background to be able to get paid for these surveys. For as long as you are what the survey company is looking for, you can make money out of it.

How does it work? Well, basically, you sign up. And then, if you qualify to answer for certain survey questions, you will get notified via email.

I highly recommend signing up for multiple survey sites. The more sites you signed up, the more you can make money. However, let me just tell you that if you aim for a regular income type of work from home job, this is not the way to go.

Answering or taking surveys is fit for moms or anyone who just want to make use of their dull times. To give you an idea, some survey sites pay less than $5 for every survey, but you can earn big in a month if you take surveys on every chance or spare time you get. Well, instead of stalking people on social media sites, why not answer paid surveys instead, right? That is one way of using your time wisely.

Some of the most popular survey sites include Swagbucks, Survey Junkie, Vindale Research, InboxDollars, and MyPoints. Also, most of these sites are generous enough to give sign up bonuses, which is around $5 to $10.

  1. Make money from building your personal blog.

It may sound like too much work at the beginning, but I tell you, building up a blog is worth it. Well, you have an option to either build it yourself or hire someone to do it for you and then just take over once it’s up.

Again, this one is for those who are passionate about writing.

You know, what’s nice about having your own blog is that you get to be your own boss, you get your profit in full, and you get to decide what to write and what not to write about. Meaning, you get to decide for anything and everything about your blog.

To be honest, when the idea of building a blog hit me, I was scared at first. I mean, it’s like a leap of faith. I wasn’t sure how long will my return on investment be. Yes, you have to invest in it. Apart from time and effort, you may also invest money. It’s really a risk. It’s like building an online business too. It would either be a hit or it may not work on your favor.

But one thing I learned about blogging is that you have to trust your ability. If you are hiring people to do some technical jobs for you, you also have to trust that they know what they are doing and that they are doing their best.

You know, at the end of the day, in anything in this world, if you really want to succeed, all you have to do is work hard, do your best and let the universe and the One up there do the rest.

To make money from blogging, all you have to do is to either signup for Google AdSense, do affiliate marketing, as well as collaborate with brands by doing sponsored posts. These are just three of the best ways to make money from blogging. Of course, when you get popular, you may also get invitations to do talks and get paid for doing so, and all other perks and stuff.

In terms of how much you can make from blogging, well, this I have to say. How much money you make from blogging depends on how much hard work you put into it, and how interesting your topics are. Remember, web traffic is the key to earn big. Of course, search engine optimization has also a lot to do with it.

To give you an idea, some bloggers can make over $100,000 a month, while the more popular ones make even more than that. Unbelievable? Well, that’s the truth. In fact, from what I have observed, there are a lot of mommy bloggers out there earning hundreds of thousands of dollars each month from blogging.

Who knows, you might just be the next!?

To be honest, these are just five of the many things to do at home for money. In fact, there are a lot more clever ideas out there on how to earn money from home. Too many that cater to different fields of interests and expertise.

WHERE TO BEGIN

Take it from someone who has been there. I tell you, like in any other things in life, start with something that you are passionate about. Something that you love.

As what other people say, when you start doing something that you love to do, it doesn’t feel like work at all. All the more that you need this if you are a fulltime mom. You do not have all the time to do work, you only have a little to spare. So, make the most out of your spare time. Make money from doing something that brightens up your day. Something that will make you feel accomplished, and ultimately, happy.

FINAL THOUGHTS

To conclude, there are indeed several things to do at home to make money as a mom or as someone who finds office work does not fit on you. For all this, we have to thank the technology. Without it, there would be no chances like these.

To my fellow full-time moms and soon-to-be work from home moms, while it feels good knowing we can still work even within the comforts of our home, let us not forget, however, the very reason why we are home – that is to take care of our children.

At the end of the day, no amount of money or work can ever satisfy our mommy heart than being with our children, taking care of them, and ultimately, seeing them happy.
